Special Pav Bhaji Recipe

It’s the time to feel blessed because we all are safe at our home in the quarantine, where we can make the delicious “Mumbai style pav bhaji” and enjoy it.

So here I am sharing the recipe of most loved street food of Mumbai the famous masala pav bhaji. You all can conveniently prepare it at your home as well.

Pav Bhaji Recipe

For this Special Pav Bhaji, we need

  • Boiled potatoes – 3
  • Tomatoes – 6
  • Capsicum – 1
  • Cauliflower florets – 1 cup
  • Green peas – ½ cup (optional)
  • Green coriander – 3 to 4 tsp (finely chopped)
  • Butter – ½ cup
  • Ginger paste -1 tsp
  • Green chili – 2 (finely chopped)
  • Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1 tsp
  • Pav bhaji masala – 2 tsp
  • Red chili powder – 1 tsp
  • Salt

Let’s start making Pav Bhaji

  1. For making pav bhaji, firstly we will boil cauliflower and green peas.
    • for that take a vessel with 2 cup water.
    •   Take 200-gram cauliflower cut the florets and wash thoroughly then chop them in small chunks, and place the chopped cauliflower into the vessel.
    • Take ½ cup green peas and add them into the vessel.
  1. While our veggies cooks, we will peel the potatoes and chop the tomatoes and capsicum.
  2. If you see lots of seeds in tomatoes then you can remove them.
  3. Discard the seeds of capsicum and chop them finely.
  4. Check the veggies are soft now, they are completely boiled.

Now, we will make the Pav Bhaji

  1. Heat a pan.
  2. Pan is now heated, add 2 tsp of butter/oil to it.
  3. Let the butter melt.
  4. Add 1 tsp ginger paste and 2 chopped green chili.
  5. Roast them for a while.
  6. Now add chopped tomatoes and ½ tsp turmeric powder and 1 tsp coriander powder.
  7. Mix it well and add chopped capsicum.
  8. Mix everything really well.
  9. Cover and cook for 2 -3 minutes until the tomatoes get cooked.
  10. 3 minutes are over and tomatoes are cooked too.
  11. Now mash it with the help of a masher.
  12. We have mashed the tomatoes and capsicum completely with the masalas.
  13. Now we will add boiled cauliflower and green peas to it.
  14. Cook them while mashing it together.
  15. Vegetables are now mashed completely.
  16. Now add potatoes to it. Crumble the potatoes with hand and add them.
  17. Add little more than 1 tsp of salt, 1 tsp red chili powder, and 2 tsp pav bhaji masala.
  18. You can adjust the chili powder and salt according to your
  19. Again cook while mashing the bhaji continuously.
  20. We will also add water to it but first, mash them nicely.
  21. Add ½ cup of water, if required then later we will add more water.
  22. Cook and keep mashing the veggies until everything comes together.
  23. Now the bhaji is mashed and cooked completely.
  24. Veggies are still crunchy which tastes delicious.
  25. Now we will add some chopped green coriander and 1 tsp of butter into the bhaji.
  26. The butter will enhance its flavor and bhaji is ready now.
  27. Now we will toast the pav bread.
  28. Take pav bread and slice it from between. Cut and open it.
  29. Put some butter/oil on a pan and let it melt.
  30. Slightly put the pav on the pan and keep moving the pav on the pan.
  31. Flip the side and let it toast it for a while.
  32. Toasted Pav bread is ready now.
